ZUG.com Announces New Children's Book Deal Full of Pranks and Practical Jokes
Boston, MA (PRWEB) March 28, 2008 -- ZUG.com, the Web's oldest comedy site, announces a publishing deal with Grosset & Dunlap, a division of Penguin Group (USA), for a children's book of pranks and practical jokes entitled "M3: Mischief Maker's Manual." Aimed at the tween market (ages 8-12), "Mischief Maker's Manual" will be the definitive guide for young pranksters, thew-to of troublemaking. The book will be released in Spring 2009.
The book is a natural extension for a Web site that specializes in pranks. In 2007, ZUG.com released "Prank the Monkey: The ZUG Book of Pranks", a collection of elaborate hoaxes orchestrated on such celebrities and institutions as Ashton Kutcher, Michael Jackson, Starbucks, Wal-Mart, and the entire U.S. Senate. "Prank the Monkey" went on to become an Amazon.com bestseller in its first month of release.
"It is every American's right, if not their duty, to prank on April Fool's Day," says Sir John Hargrave, the creator of ZUG.com, who was himself born on April Fool's Day. "For instance, this press release: is it a prank? Or is it real, but masquerading as a prank, to make you pay attention?"
Sir John, who legally changed his name in 2007 in order to prank the Queen of England, is setting up April Fool's Day interview slots to discuss some of the best pranks to pull in 2008. In addition, Sir John and the ZUG.com comedy crew will be available to work with radio DJs, reporters, TV producers, or bloggers who would like free assistance in setting up April Fool's Day media hoaxes.
ZUG.com is also holding an April Fool's Day contest for over $1,000 in cash and prizes for the best April fools day prank phone calls, office pranks, and family pranks, encouraging its users to submit their most mischievous ideas from now through April Fool's Day. While this prize money may also seem like a prank, it is not--just go to ZUG.com to see for yourself.
